Overview
The WordPress admin dashboard displays several widgets by default. While useful for some, they can add clutter for administrators who prefer a minimal workspace. All five options are off by default.
These settings only affect the admin dashboard — they have no impact on your site’s frontend or functionality.
Remove WordPress Events and News
Default: Off
Removes the “WordPress Events and News” widget that displays upcoming WordCamps, meetups, and WordPress news. This widget makes external requests to the WordPress.org API on each dashboard load.
Remove Quick Draft
Default: Off
Removes the “Quick Draft” widget that allows creating draft posts directly from the dashboard. If you prefer to create content through the standard post editor, this widget is unnecessary.
Remove At a Glance
Default: Off
Removes the “At a Glance” widget that shows counts of posts, pages, and comments, along with the current theme and WordPress version.
Remove Activity
Default: Off
Removes the “Activity” widget that displays recently published posts and recent comments. This information is also available through the Posts and Comments menu items.
Remove Site Health Status
Default: Off
Removes the “Site Health Status” widget that shows a summary of your site’s health check results. The full Site Health tool remains accessible under Tools → Site Health regardless of this setting.
